Bold Strokes for Art is collaboration by three artists: Laura McCall, Karen Sleigh and Carol Weiss.
Laura McCall is presently living in Sacramento and visits Michigan regularly. She has lived in California, Michigan, Oklahoma and Texas. She is a self taught artist, but knew in childhood she had a special relationship with art.
Karen Sleigh is presently living in Michigan and has lived in California, Oklahoma, Canada and Mexico. She was educated in art and has a BA in Fine Art at California State University Fullerton. Art is her lifelong adventure in different mediums.
Carol Weiss is presently living in Michigan and has lived in Brazil, Spain, Mexico, Peru and Puerto Rico. She is a self taught artist and has attended classes and workshops taught by Cleveland finest artists.
The artists were all were involved in art before starting the group in the fall of 2007. Their friendship and knowledge grew as they learned how the dynamics of painting together worked. After a subject matter is chosen, they divide it and paint separately in their own studios. The panels are put back together into a painting joined by composition, but different in creative interpretations of color and brush strokes. Through trial and error and some experimentation the group explores and continues to explore their world of collaborative art. The fascinating part is that they learned Bold Strokes For Art created synergy in art and life.
Bold Strokes For Art has shown in several locations in Grand Rapids, Traverse City and Sacramento.
Their collections hang in California, Florida, Japan, Michigan, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oklahoma and Spain.
